NOTE: This is a short term sublet (approximately 2 months at the most). This year I am only traveling to Mexico for two months at the most from about late February to late April 2021. Dates for occupancy will be negotiated with tenant and rent prorated for the dates of the lease. For the past five years, I have been traveling south to Mexico for the winters and will again be subletting my home in SE Portland for a sixth year. The house is fully furnished and potential subletters will be able to utilize everything in the home (linens, a well-stocked kitchen, electronics ... everything). This sublet worked perfectly the past four years for individuals moving to Portland who wanted time to look at the different neighborhoods, get a feel for the housing market before purchasing, and basically arrive with a suitcase and be able to go to work on Monday without any stress or angst. GENERAL HOME DESCRIPTION: My home sits on three lots and is open and airy. People routinely say that they can't believe they're in Portland given how quiet it is and the neighbors are at least 100' away in all directions. The home is a mid century modern design with lots of windows and light. Even on the most cloudy of days you will not need to turn on a light during the daytime. The house is located on a quiet street with great neighbors. It is roughly located off of SE Holgate and 34th Avenue, six blocks north of Reed College. DATES OF SUBLET: I will be leaving February 22, and plan to return in mid to late April. My return date is not yet confirmed and can be somewhat negotiable with the tenant subletting the house. RENT: $2,500 per month. All utilities are included in the rent. The utilities will remain in the name of the homeowner. DEPOSIT: I will also ask for a $2,500 deposit that is fully refundable at move-out. I can provide the references of the previous tenants and all will tell you their deposit was returned. Each of them left the home clean and all personal possessions were intact. PETS: I have had dogs and cats for 20 years and allow pets. I currently do not have a dog but the house is set up for a dog with lots of hard surfaces and a fully fenced back yard. My dogs have been small (under 20 pounds) and in the 18 years I've lived in this house, they were never able to get out of the back yard. It is securely fenced. If you are bringing a pet, there will be a $50 per pet fee in addition to the monthly rent. NOTE: I still have a cat that is an outdoor cat. He has lived outdoors for the past 19 years and wants nothing to do with coming indoors. The tenant subletting the house will need to feed the outdoor cat. Once the cat learns you're the provider of the food, he'll be extremely friendly and will allow you to pet and hold him if you want. He's about 21 years old. NO SMOKING: My home is smoke free and I want it to remain that way. LAUNDRY: There is a washer/dryer in the house. BEDROOMS: The house has two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen size bed and the other bedroom has a full size bed. The house has been rented to couples who share the main bedroom. If you want your own bed I can make arrangements to move out the full bed (which will need to be stored in the spare bedroom). BATHROOM: You'll see in the photos a picture of the bathroom. There is only a walk-in shower; no bathtub. SWIMMING POOL: You'll see a swimming pool in the pictures. Sadly, it will be winterized before I leave and covered with a safety cover. The safety cover is extremely sturdy so there is no way an animal or person can fall through.
