Originally constructed in 1797 by John and Elizabeth Carpenter, the Springhouse, which still stands on the property, was built over a spring on sloping ground. The Main House was constructed in 1804 with additions added on in later years. Inside you will find original wood floors, beamed ceilings, a walk-in fireplace with the hive entrance of a beehive oven and stone floor inlay that once served as the kitchen, two corner fireplaces for heating, Dutch doors, winder staircases, Limestone walls with 400-million-year-old brachiopod fossils and more.
