Winding through a two lane country road framed in by towering Douglas Fir and Redwood forest until emerging into the bright sunlight of Elk Meadow Ranch, one is mesmerized by the purity of this idyllic landscape.Elk Meadow Ranch encompasses 50 acres of manicured grounds including a sprawling meadow encased and protected by a curtain of century old Douglas Firs. The Smith Family bought the Ranch back in 1975 with its existing old craftsman style house in a worn but functional state. It was not until 2014 that the Smith's embarked on a major and meticulous remodel and expansion of the house, transforming the structure into what could only be considered a living piece of art that preserved its historical integrity while incorporating modern functionality. Attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the house. Much of the redwood and fir used in the project were sourced and milled from the Smith's timber holdings. The house consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 baths with each room show casing the different woods used to their true magnificence. The house is serviced by PG&E with a back up generator. Two wells provide the water. Besides the house, there is a stand alone and sturdily built Workshop/ Garage. Opposite the house is also a tastefully done studio cabin.
