Former Antique Hotel In 1904, the city of Lebanon voted to build a new brick schoolhouse to replace the older wooden one that was built in 1888. To meet the needs of the growing town, the owners of the Weaver Hotel wasted little time in purchasing the former schoolhouse at auction and commenced to have it dismantled. They used the lumber to build this large addition to their existing Hotel and in the process moved part of the original schoolhouse intact, that being the 18’ X 30’ former classroom which can easily be seen inside. The first floor was set up as a large apartment and office area to accommodate Dr. Eustice, the local practicing Doctor for over fifty years .A rather giant of man in his day and an avid wrestler & hunter. He was known to periodically hold wrestling matches in the large baggage room (former classroom) for fun and entertainment. This same room was also regularly used by the many traveling salesmen who would display their wares for sale there. The second floor consisted of ten boarding rooms; a welcome addition to the Weaver Hotel’s ever expanding clientele. With plenty of room to spare, this historic 4,000 square foot building consists of seven rooms on the first floor and ten on the second, retaining much of its period features and character, including: 9” ceilings, transom doorways, all original doors, oversized windows with trim, etc. Built using the balloon frame construction method, it’s solid and lends itself to an open floor plan when non supporting walls are removed. The roof was redone in 2001 using 7/16” sheeting and 50 year Tamko antique Pewter Heritage shingles. The building’s been used for storage for the past twenty years and has been completely gutted. Nicely situated on a corner lot and ready to remodel into your dream home, hunting lodge, business, etc. either on site or moved to another location. LEBANON, KS The building is located on nearly a half an acre corner lot in Lebanon, KS. Lebanon is the geographical center of the continental 48 states and located at the junction of Highways 36 (Indiana to Denver, CO) and Highway 281 (Mexico to Canada). Many tourists come to visit the Center Monument annually from all over the world. Lebanon is a small, friendly, quite community.
