305 Cottonton Road, Pittsview, AL 36871
Approx. 1,736 sq ft | 2 Bedrooms | 1.5 Bathrooms | 14.07 Acres
For Sale By Owner – $350,000
305 Cottonton Road is a private and quiet 14.07-acre homestead in rural Russell County. The two-story ivy-covered cottage sits several hundred feet back from the road, reached by a long private driveway that provides true seclusion and minimal noise. The land includes open fields, mature woods, natural springs, and established garden systems.
Inside the home, road noise is not heard at all. Even outside, the natural buffers and distance from the road create a level of quiet rarely found this close to several major towns.
The property is roughly half meadow and half woods, with multiple springs, abundant wildlife, and several suitable areas for additional buildings. It has been developed into a productive permaculture homestead with mature fruit trees, berries, herbs, raised beds, greenhouse space, a mature 1,000-gallon aquaponics system, and composting zones. These systems are already operating and ready for continued use.
A turnkey plant-nursery setup is included if desired. The greenhouse, plant inventory, soil, pots, and growing areas will stay, providing a ready foundation for gardening or nursery operations.
The home offers two bedrooms, one full bath, one half bath, approximately 1,736 sq ft of living space, a solid staircase built along the wall over a reinforced pantry, a large front porch overlooking the field, central heating and air, and modern utilities.
A major advantage is the availability of 1 gigabit fiber-optic internet, making the property suitable for remote work, online business, or high-bandwidth needs.
Additional features include a 30-amp RV/camper hookup, multiple potential build sites, low annual property taxes, and no HOA. The acreage supports workshops, barns, additional cabins, livestock, or RV pads depending on buyer preference and county guidelines.
The location provides both seclusion and convenience: about 30 minutes to Columbus, Georgia; roughly 30 minutes to Eufaula and Lake Eufaula’s nationally known bass fishing; and within an hour of Auburn/Opelika. Fort Benning is approximately 20 minutes away. A regional craft brewery is located about seven miles from the property, and the area offers strong deer and turkey hunting.
The home is within the Russell County School District. Buyers should verify zoning and school options. The surrounding area includes many retired military households and long-term residents, creating a quiet and respectful rural community.
Low taxes and no HOA offer flexibility for future development. The 14.07 acres provide substantial usable land for homesteading, gardening, or expansion. Shown by appointment only. Contact the owner for details or a private showing. Buyer agents welcome with negotiated compensation.

What the owner loves about this home
What we’ve loved most about this home is the life our family was able to live here. The house sits far back from the road, quiet and surrounded by open land and woods, and our kids grew up exploring it in complete safety. They spent their childhood catching frogs at the springs, climbing trees, walking the trails, and discovering the natural world in a way most children never get the chance to anymore.
We planted fruit trees, berries, herbs, and gardens with them in mind. Watching them pick pears and figs right off the branches, snack on berries in the field, and pull vegetables from the soil is something we’ll always be grateful for. Over the years, this land has given us more fruit and food than we could ever use, and it always felt good to share it with friends and neighbors.
Wildlife has been part of our daily life here. Deer move through the fields at sunrise, owls call at night, and the woods are always alive with birds and small animals. Even while working from home, we were never far from nature. Morning coffee on the porch, stepping outside during work breaks, and watching the seasons change right in front of us became part of our routine.
What we love most is the sense of peace here. Inside the home, you don’t hear the road at all, and even outside you mostly hear the wind and the woods around you. Yet the property is still close to Columbus, Auburn, Eufaula, and Fort Benning, which made everyday life easy without losing that feeling of being in your own private world. It has been a rare place where a family can grow, work, explore, and live freely, and that’s what has made this home so special to us.
