Sweet, cozy cottage available 2/18/2021. This is a cozy, private, garden cottage in south Berkeley, bordering the Elmwood district. You do not need a car to enjoy this area! Walk or ride bikes anywhere. An abundance of shops, cafes, and restaurants are within 1/2 mile. It is 3 blocks to the Berkeley Bowl (a most amazing grocery!) and two blocks to the Starry Plough, an Irish Pub with music nightly, and La Pena Cultural Center. Transportation is easily available: 5 blocks to BART (which will get you to San Francisco in 20 minutes), and 3 major bus lines at the corner of Ashby and Fulton streets. 4 blocks to Berkeley Bowl grocery, and 3 to Whole Foods and College Ave. UCB is ~1.5 miles. Cottage is approx. 415 sq. ft. w/ separate bedroom, bath & small closet. The cottage has been updated with granite countertops, fresh paint, light fixtures, new bamboo flooring in the bedroom, hallway, and living/kitchen area.The small bath has a marble shower stall built by the original owner (he was a master marble layer!) in 1925. Kitchen with toaster oven, stove top, oven, (both propane powered-The stove is from the 1920's -), microwave, refrigerator, electric water kettle. Can be rented furnished w/oak table/chairs, rockers, linens/towels. Has WI-FI Internet. Small patio & access to shared garden (possible use of hot tub with restrictions). No pets. No smokers. Please note: I live 3 hours north of Berkeley at present, so will only be able to show the cottage 2/16-18. I may be able to arrange alternate tour dates with the tenant in the front house who is lovely! Owner pays for gardener, garbage, recycling and internet. The water bill is divided 4 ways and cottage pays 1/4. Renter pays for own PG&E, propane tank (lasts 3-6 months). No pets ( the cottage has been pet free due to possible renters allergies). Absolutely no smoking. There is usually street parking -but it is metered.
