There is a lot of pride and joy in owning and residing in a home listed on the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PLACES. This home achieved that in July 1983. One can brag that only 2 families have owned this property. The original log cabin, built in 1790 by Dr. Murray, is a cape cod style. Upon remodeling, the strip boarding, protecting the logs, was replaced by wood ordered from California. None of the original construction was ever destroyed. Original rooms to the cabin are quite large, living room, formal dining room and 2 second floor bedrooms. The original cooking area, a "lein-to" on the side of the cabin/house, was enclosed, retaining these lines by adding interior walls and modern appliances. The fireplace and chimney in the living room were restored and are in working order There is believed another original fireplace still exists in the dining room behind an added panel wall. All the original windows are deep-set because of the thickness of the logs. The plank floors in living room and dining room were replaced with beautiful peg floors.
