    What's special

This is an available bedroom in a 2+ BR condo. Couple in their mid to late 20s looking for male or female roommate for September 1, 2020 move-in date for 1 bedroom in 2+ bedroom/1 bathroom apartment in Somerville, MA near Lincoln Park walking distance from Union Square and Inman Square, as well as within 15-20 min walk of Harvard Sq, Central Sq, and Kendall Sq. About the Apartment: The apartment has a nice entryway with shoe and coat racks, long hallway, beautiful and well-lit separate living room and dining room, kitchen, fenced-in backyard with deck, grill, green space and raised-bed vegetable and herb garden (we are currently growing broccoli, red cabbage, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, summer squash, sweet peppers, and cucumbers), a driveway that can fit 2 cars (we have a one-car), and a basement for some storage. Laundry ($2/load - currently free, but not sure how long that will last) in the basement and is shared with others in the building. My current roommate (a graduate student at MIT) is moving out in August due to virtual classes, and but my girlfriend and I are staying. The apartment is fully furnished with the exception of what would be your bedroom and a dining room table, which the current roommate owns. About Us: My girlfriend is a 24-year old clinical dietitian at Brigham and Women's Hospital and I am a 29-year old senior project manager for an offshore wind developer. During the week, we spend time walking my dog (I have 1 year 6-month-old Australian shepherd/border collie mix rescue - picture included below), cooking (we both are pescatarians), reading, watching TV, working a lot, running, cycling, and going out to local restaurants and breweries (pre- and hopefully post-COVID). On the weekends, we are typically somewhere in the mountains in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. We both love hiking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. We also love hosting game nights, hanging out at local breweries, going to concerts, and watching good TV shows. We are both very clean, respectful, and professional, but love to have fun. I am an avid Boston sports fan, international relations buff, and energy nerd, and my girlfriend loves reading books and nerding out on nutrition science. My dog is the most loving ball of energy ever. His name is Pemi (named after the Pemigewasset). What kind of roommate we are looking for: A young professional and/or grad student who is clean, responsible, respectful, financially stable (or at least someone who can afford rent and utilities), friendly, loves dogs, preferably is active and enjoys the outdoors, and generally has hobbies. We would prefer someone that does not smoke cigarettes, but smoking weed in the backyard is fine by us, and no other drug use in or around the house. Would welcome another dog if he/she gets along with my dog and you are a responsible dog owner. About the bedroom (pictured below): The room is about 9x11 ft, has two windows, and a decent-sized closet that has shelving and room for a dresser. I occupied the room for nearly 3 years and loved it. I had a long bookshelf, large TV, nightstand, full-sized bed, and a large sofa chair in the room. Room will not be furnished. Rent for the entire apartment is $3200. We are asking for $1100 for the bedroom, and my girlfriend and I will pay $2100 for the other bedroom (given that it has an office space attached to it and it's only fair for us to pay more being two people). Everything else will be shared. There is a lot of space in the apartment and we are hoping to find someone to share it with. First-month rent of $1100 due September 1, 2019, and security deposit of $1067 (equivalent to 1/3 of total monthly apartment cost) due by August 14, 2019. Would be 6-month or 1-year lease from September 1, 2020, through February 28, 2021, or August 31, 2021. Utilities typically run $50-80/month per person on average for gas, electric, and internet. Can be $20 depending on season/weather. COVID-19: We have been very responsible, including social distancing, staying at home, wearing our masks, and frequently washing our hands. We clean the apartment regularly and disinfect surfaces frequently. We are happy to get tested ahead of anyone moving in, and expect the same of the person that would move in ahead of September 1. We do not have guests with the exception of one or two close friends in the backyard at a distance. Please reach out if you're interested, have any questions about the place, and potentially want to check the place out!
