7 minute drive to the school and Rec Center.
10 minutes to downtown.
Bittersweet is the house where I spent summers with dozens of cousins. It has years of family reunions and solitary retreats in it. It was built as a summer home and upgraded throughout the years. For example, the sleeping porch that was added with bunk beds and flip up wood window coverings has since been insulated, covered in flooring, and real windows put in; it's my favorite space). As a summer home, the building does not have good insulation, but I pay for the electric and propane, as long as the cost does not increase more than 5% YoY. I just replaced the skirt around the house, and my next project is the siding. I'm constantly upgrading.
I lived in this house for 5 years and then built my forever house next door, which allowed Bittersweet to be rented. I took a wall down between two bedrooms (one was tiny), which created a second bedroom suite that has one large room and bathroom with a sliding door to the sunporch. This would be a great house for a couple and a child or a couple that wants an in-home office space.
I live in Estes part-time (half of each week) and work here in town. When I am in Estes, I live next to Bittersweet. I am honored to be the fourth-generation land steward of this property.
Looking for someone who values a long view and can respect the space and surrounding land.
Looking for a long-term renter, preferrably one year. The only fee not included in rent is internet at roughly $50 a month. I also do not include trash, there is trash service weekly and it requires paying $5 for bag. However, those bags are HUGE (most have not used it weekly) and some renters have preferred to take their trash to the dump.
Furnishings: Unit currently has some furnishings and a queen sized bed. I can furnishings out (other than one hutch at entry). I can also help source some things if the new renter needs.
This home is on family property bought in 1911. There are adjacent family homes on either side. It is quiet here, and we respect the wildlife. The wind is fierce on the hillside and the views undying. There is fire danger in this part of the world; no smoking on property and all fire district allowances must be followed.
