This is the original Ranch House for the C-Bar Ranch. Before it was cut up into development tracts in the 1950s, It was built before the lake was dammed. It is above the flood plane, but only a three minute walk, (all down hill) to the lake. We have one of the largest “City of Austin Parks” even though we pay no City taxes. You can check out the park, Lake and our neighborhood association at http://www.lakehillsca.org This is not a subdivision, and can not be searched as such, but is an old, established, Lake community with many young families. It is in the Eanes Independent School District, one of the best in the nation. Our social centers are our kids’ swim team and the C-Bar Volunteer Fire Department. The house has its original stone wall fence. A Double fireplace Half on the porch; with the original metal arm that swings out which was used for holding the pot of food to feed the ranch hands. The other half is the center piece of the living room with a large limestone fireplace and mantle. The lower floors of the house have oak hard wood flooring, except for the master bedroom suite which is down stairs with its own master bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub and sky light, two walk in closets, shower and double sinks. The porch is our (and our guests) favorite room for entertaining, or just sitting and chilling. Waving at the occasional passer by walking their dog. This house was built & designed well, even in the hottest of summer months you can sit on the porch in the middle of the day with the just the gentle buzz of the ceiling fans to provide a breeze. The whole yard is landscaped using native plants, requiring the absolute minimum of work and water. However, there is a sprinkle system which is mainly for the grass. Last year we only turned it on twice to make sure everything was working O.K. as it was a wet year. Neighborhood Description I live in 78733. You should check out the “Cuernavaca – Lake Hills” area. http://www.lakehillsca.org/ This is not a subdivision, and can not be searched as such, but is an old, established, Lake community with many young families, and Eanes Independent School District, one of the best in the nation. Many non-waterfront lots have deeded access to Lake Austin, a rare historical artifact from when the C-Bar Ranch (this house was the original ranch house, with some of the original features remaining) was cut up into development tracts in the 1950s, when access to the Lake was for watering your horse. This neighborhood remains diverse, eclectic (not quite Bohemian). There is a private homeowners park and pool and boat launch for this neighborhood. Membership is voluntary and only $300 per year. Its a great family oriented neighborhood with lots of community events all year.
