This is the first historic district in New York State. We have a great community where people are friendly. We have a historic home tour in the fall, a secret garden tour every other year, we participate in the canal day festivities, we have a neighborhood picnic with live music, an outdoor art show in Sept., a Christmas Tree lighting and party. We have volunteers who create and maintain beautiful gardens in Riverside Park. I love going to the park, which is a treasure. Where else would you have an unobstructed view of the Mohawk River without a train track, highway, factory or commercial plant or commercial dock within yards of the park? The small playground is nice for the children and there is almost always a tennis court available. Its great to watch the crew teams of Union College, Schenectady and Scotia high schools practice and the water ski school practice.
