    Welcome to the historic Newton House, an 1800's homestead with modern amenities, situated along the Black River. The Main House was built in 1826 by Ezra Newton, and would serve as the family's home for the next 5 generations. From 1845 to 1905, the family ran a general store on the property, which is now the guest house. The current owner is the first non-Newton to own the property, and this is the first time the home has been on the market since 1994. In addition to converting the store into a GUEST HOUSE, with a kitchen, full bath and 2nd floor bedroom, the current owner has made numerous renovations including:Building a POOL HOUSE that includes an Endless Wave Pool with Jacuzzi, Suana, Exercise Area and powder room.The MAIN HOUSE was fully renovated (down to the beams) but maintains the 1826 character. A newly constructed 2nd floor addition allowed for two large bedrooms to be added, and a Spa-Like bathroom with Free-Standing tub and Walk-In Steam Shower. Outside, the Pond was added when the back yard was regraded to allow more natural light into the home. Landscaping in the front yard created a hidden sitting area, and all planted areas have sprinkler systems in place. Trails lead from the pond to the large open field and there are also trails through the woods down to the Black River and another fielded area. A two car GARAGE was added alongside the original 1800's BARN. There is also a fenced vegetable garden and another pond at the lower area of the property. The property is located in Stephentown Center, a small hamlet within Stephentown, and is close to many attractions, including Jiminy Peak, Hancock Shaker Village, Williamstown, Mount Greylock, The Clark Art Institute. About 35 minutes drive to Albany, and roughly 2 hours to NYC or Boston. Two chandeliers in the main house do not convey - one in the kitchen over the table and the one in the stairwell.
