In exchange for affordable rent, co-op members agree to put in the "sweat equity" maintaining and improving the building, property, and individual units. This includes lawn maintenance/landscaping/gardening, snow removal, cleaning, and general maintenance/repairs throughout the building. Each unit consists of one voting member. Voting members assume a role (secretary, treasurer, president, maintenance, etc.) and participate in monthly co-op meetings. As part of a co-op, you will interact with and get to know your neighbors. We make all decisions regarding the building collectively. Emotional maturity and good communication skills are a must. Residents of each unit live independently and we respect each others' lives and privacy. We enjoy spending time together occasionally on the patio, at a local pub, or having a bonfire. The building is relatively quiet and so are we, but our community includes pets (that sometimes bark) and a toddler. We also enjoy playing and listening to music. An interest in cooperative life and home ownership are important here. When repairs are needed, we first try to address them ourselves, so a DIY spirit and willingness to learn about home maintenance tasks are essential. Please note that renters credits are not available for co-op members, and the co-op cannot take section 8 HOW TO INQUIRE Message us by September 13th, and include your answers to the questions below in your inquiry. Candidates who are a good fit for our co-op culture will be contacted for an interview and invited to visit the unit before completing an application. Interviews will take place the weekend of September 21-22. PLEASE RESPOND TO THESE QUESTIONS WITH YOUR INQUIRY Write 2-3 sentences about yourself (and anyone who would be living with you).
