    What's special

One of 50 (one for each state) "Blandings Dream Homes" built in 1948 as a promotion for the movie "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home" a post-war comedy starring Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas. The home was built with several state of the art features for the time including a lifetime aluminum shingle roof, aluminum casement windows with sliding storms, radiant wall heat, and low voltage light switches, and central air conditioning. A two story wing was added in 1975 housing two bedrooms with full baths. In the mid-1990s the house was slightly enlarged and remodeled, with the addition of a laundry/mudroom, a family/TV room adjoining an expanded kitchen, and a new casual full bathroom near the door leading to the pool/patio areas. The Master bedroom and bath were also remodeled and enlarged. In 2005, a major renovation was completed affecting virtually every room in the house. The house was enlarged and many rooms were reconfigured. Infrastructure was extensively updated, including plumbing, electrical, computer network cabling, and whole-house sound. Security was also upgraded. New windows, french doors, crown moldings, wainscotting, chair and picture rails were added to many rooms. All carpet was removed and the underlying hardwood floors were refinished throughout the house. A mahogany library area was added, as were a family "sun parlor" with floor to ceiling windows and a barrel vault ceiling. A great room area was created from three rooms which now includes the kitchen, breakfast, parlor and television "home theater" areas. In 2007, two bathrooms were remodeled with new fixtures, surfaces and floors, and two bedrooms were also refreshed and upgraded. Neighborhood Description Lynnridge area is small enclave of multi-acre parcels with homes dating from the late 1940s to the present. Some homeowners still raise sheep, but most have landscaped their properties with lawns, gardens, and pools into park-like settings. Many old-growth Douglas Firs dot the area. It lies in unincorporated Washington County and properties have Portland addresses. Many shopping centers, parks, theaters, athletic clubs etc. are nearby. Highways 26 and 216 are easily accessible. Commute to downtown is 10-20 minutes depending on traffic.
