This Greek Revival Plantation Home was built in 1824 by William Waller, grandson of Benjamin Waller of Williamsburg fame. The home is described by the Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission as a five bay, five course American bond brick I house. John & Susie Shimp operated ROCKMILL BED & BREAKFAST here for the past 9 years. Many of the renovations were done for the business, including 4 new bathrooms, new windows and new electrical and mechanical. The foundation of the Old Rock Mill are still on the property. In a 1932 newspaper article, the headline reads Old Rock Mill Near Lowesville Burned...was 200 years old and had sheltered Patrick Henry during a British raid. The Shimp's have collected a great deal of history on the house and property. Only five families have live in this home since 1824. Letters and photos from previous owners will be left with the house. Come enjoy the beauty of this historic old home.
