We have built a Jack-and-Jill style of open floor plan (kids beds & bath on one side of family room/dining room/kitchen, and the master bed & bath on opposite side) for the ultimate in privacy between the kids and the parents. We have a lovely stream that runs in front of the front deck, and lots of pretty landscaping of trees and shrubs and moss-covered bricks. In a graveled parking area out front, between the house and the garage, we have a small (but prolific!) greenhouse and two square-foot gardens. We also have an enclosed chicken coop area and fenced dog yard.
