But when you have used all the electricity stored in the batteries you will have to either start a generator or just wait until the wind blows and/or the sun shines to use power! :) 1 year lease, Buckhorn Canyon, tenant pays for propane and internet/internet based phone service, and provides his/her own firewood and any gas used for generator. First month's rent, last month's rent and $1,100 security deposit to move in ($1,300 security deposit if dogs or cats moving in), $40 application fee. (I am not out of the state and will not ask you to wire money! :) ) Rent is less expensive than average because of the 1 hr. 30 minute commute to the property. Please respond via email after reading the entire add and confirm that you are ok with the commute, power situation and remote living. NO INDOOR GROW ROOMS ALLOWED!! Small, legal, outdoor crops ok. If you have above average/high electricity demands, this is not the house for you! :) The home with 'shop' (not a garage type shop) sits on aprox. 6 acres with an aspen grove in the backyard, close to national forest (private land borders the property, but national forest, including trailheads to Lookout Mountain and Signal Mountain are 5 minutes away). Perfect for those who want to learn about off grid power systems. Temperatures are usually aprox. 10 degrees cooler than town in the summer and you will actually get snow in the winter! Your neighbors will include elk, bear and mountain lions. If you have elementary school aged children, Stove Prairie is an excellent school with great student-teacher ratios. Your beautiful commute, highlighted by views of the Buckhorn creek, pine and aspen forests, would be aprox. 1 hour and 30 minutes to Ft. Collins or Loveland, most of which is on a dirt road that can be extremely washboarded much of the year (except for a few weeks right after the county works on it :) ). In the winter when heavy snows occur ( a couple times a year or more, depending) you can be snowed in until the county plows the main road, and during such times, unless you have a plow or can pay a neighbor with one to plow the driveway, parking your vehicle at the bottom of the driveway is advisable if you need to get to town. Owning a 4wd vehicle is advisable if you want to make sure you can get in and out under most conditions. House: 2 bdrm, 1 bath, bi level house, aprox. 1,000-1,200 square feet, washer and dryer (maintained by tenant), propane cook stove/oven, small propane heater, small propane fridge and/or small electric chest freezer and another small electric chest freezer converted into a low power usage refrigerator, two wood stoves (primary heat sources), pantry, root cellar Upstairs bedroom: 17' x 17' plus closet Downstairs bedroom: 10' x 11.5' w/ small closet area Livingroom : 15.5' x 20' Power System: There are solar panels and a large (60' tall) windmill for power sources as well as inverter, charge controller and battery bank sufficient for average/moderate electricity use. Electricity use will be limited to that provided by these and any generator you provide and run. No land lines for phones are available and no cell service, but with hughesnet internet you can get phone service, but internet (uses electricity :) ) must be on to make and receive calls. The 'Shop': This building could be used for a shop, or even as a separate living space. Tenants must be clean and tidy. No cigarette smoking inside the house. Two cats and two dogs ok, but NO incessant barkers, diggers, chewers, etc. Exceptions to the two and two policy, ex. three dogs or cats, could be made. Important that tenants respect private property in the area. Small fenced garden space beside house. Serious inquiries only please!
