This place is a great deal--a complete, separate apartment within a house with a beautiful yard in part, because it has a few design "quirks" (one bedroom connected to a bathroom). These quirks make it important for those who live together to be compatible (ie if rented for two people it's well-designed for a couple or close friends). One of my long term tenants has told me it has been one of the most enjoyable places she has lived in the last 10 years. The House: A neat little apartment within a house (3 other units are shared but separate from this 2-bedroom/living room/kitchen/1-bath apartment). It's a great way to live with the benefits and comforts of a home without a large number of roommates. There's a basement with ample storage (your own storage unit is provided). The apartment has a nicely-sized kitchen space, gas stove, functional living room fireplace, big windows that let in lots of light, and bike storage (in home and basement). All the windows (except two) are new and insulate very well, which makes for low heating bills in the winter!! The two old windows in the apartment have been set up for replacement (down-payment for replacement work paid 4 weeks ago), so you will have all new windows shortly after you move in-)) The house shares a modern fully functional washer and dryer which takes quarters. Utilities are quite reasonable as the house has gas and wall heaters which allow for fine-tuned heating (utilities usually about $60/month total). There's a small backyard with a grill and a porch with Adirondack chairs which make it a great entertaining small groups of friends. Housemate Bonus: This apartment is wonderful because the others who live here are very friendly. It's not atypical they share coffee or a beer on the porch once a week. The house also has a neighborhood soup group. Of course this is not obligatory, but if you are looking to land in a place with friendly and respectful neighbors (women in their 30s-40s), this is a great place to land. The Location: The house is on a bike boulevard and also close to a freeway (I-84) in Northeast Portland (Sullivan Gulch) neighborhood, just a few blocks off of Broadway and 25th. You can walk to New Seasons, Fred Myer, and stores on Broadway within 5 minutes. If you are headed to OHSU/PSU/Downtown, it's about a 15-20 minute bike ride. Also you have an included 1 spot off street parking area-); there is also plenty of street parking as well. Monthly Rent: $1149 (2 bedrooms) + utilities.
