Surprisingly modern tiny home in the Santa Cruz Mountains with its own private dirt driveway, ridge views, w/d, recently remodeled kitchen, shower and loft accessible via very narrow spiral staircase. Privacy and nature galore. While property sits along a steep and sloped ridge with stepping stones and stairs to access the rental, there is privacy, plenty of space for gardening and a bonus enclosed 'Catio.' Spacious carport and outdoor storage options. Electric and water included. Unit comes with a small portable a/c unit and currently is able to use our (neighboring) wifi signal w/o additional charge. Use of A/C and other high-electricity-consuming appliances should be reasonable and thoughtful of conserving energy. Majestic mountain views and experience, including wild life big and small, heavy rains in the winter, occasional road closures, and the periodic planned and weather triggered power outages common to Santa Cruz Mountain grid. Separate portable generator not included but recommended. Remote location deep in the wilderness, a solid 20 minutes from a store of any kind. Area is not currently serviced by any food delivery services other than Whole foods grocery delivery. Uber has a very hard time getting here and rarely successfully accepts and follows through on ride requests at this location. UPS/Fedex/USPS/Amazon packages are delivered here all the time w/o issue. The access road from highway 17 (Mountain Charlie Road) is not for everyone -- it is SINGLE lane winding and narrow road with two way traffic that runs along a mountain ridge. Tenant must be comfortable driving and backing up on narrow winding mountain roads. Landlord estimates that 75% of the general population would not be happy driving on this road regularly. But for those who love nature, majestic views, peace and quiet, AND are comfortable driving Mountain Charlie Road, it's a phenomenal place to live. Because we do have occasional power outages, this location may not be optimal for a remote work set up. Most days it would be fine but we are subject to more power outages in this area. Commute to San Jose and Santa Cruz is about 25 minutes; 22 minutes to Scotts Valley and downtown Los Gatos. To get a sense of the general location you can go to google maps and enter "Pierce Rd & Mountain Charlie Rd 95033" Because of septic system and related and infrastructural constraints, this space can only sustainably support 2 occupants. Owner pays for water and electric. Renter is responsible for gas. Last month's rent due at signing. No smoking allowed. Rental sits on 6.5 acres that are fully enclosed/fenced and shared with owner, who has 2 small dogs who roam the property and will be heard barking from time to time. Other dogs/pets/animals may be considered and must be compatible with Landlord's dogs and be safe around children. Tenant must ensure their driveway gate is closed at all times when it is not being opened to exit and enter the property to help ensure dogs are safely kept inside the property. Trash must be driven up to the top of the road and deposited into the bins or walked over to our driveway and deposited in our large waste bins that are driven up to the top of the road weekly. Because of our dogs, wildlife etc, tenant must be sure to secure any waste so it cannot be reached by our dogs or any other animals (squirrels, raccoons, etc etc).
