Home is on a private mountain farm/retreat bordering the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River. The owner's property is completely surrounded by Chattahoochee National Forest land yet only 12 miles from the destination resort community of Highlands, NC. Located in the N. GA mountain community of Rabun County, with Clayton as the county seat- a renowned farm to table foodie scene and Atlanta second home/tourist destination for flyfishing, whitewater rafting, Appalachian Trail hiking, scores of waterfalls and lake recreation on Rabun and Burton (yes, mtn home of GOAT Nick Sabin!). Mtn Rest and Walhalla, SC are nearby towns also offering groceries, restaurants, entertainment and tourist destinations. Each of these towns is 12 miles from the house except Mtn Rest (8 miles, which is nearest gas and groceries). If you know the area all three communities are popular vacation and second home areas, yet all three counties have thousands of acres of national forest public lands so there isn't crowding or sense of explosive growth. The house is on a paved county road yet set back far enough to afford privacy. Although there are two other dwellings on the property neither is visible from the house, and the nearest neighbors otherwise are one half m to over a mile away. The house has been undergoing some upgrades including new paint and flooring in several rooms but preserving the beautiful hardwood flooring in the great room, plus new laundry and kitchen appliances. We're on schedule to allow move in by mid-April but there may be opportunity for earlier occupancy; or later move in if that is necessary for your situation.
