    What's special

This home is half of a two unit Greek Revival structure that was completely renovated over a two year period. Both units are now for sale and listed separately on Zillow. The structure is located at the head of the Round Church park. Unit 2 has stunning views of the Preston Preserve hillside from the living area and the bedrooms. The house was fully renovated and we took the original structure back to where we only used the exterior walls and the attic floor. New framing was added to the exterior wall and an additional layer of sheathing was added to the exterior. A new gable roof was added. All new energy-efficient 6-over-6 windows made by Anderson Windows in the Woodwright Series were installed. The front door is larger than normal at 42” in order the capture the proportions of the older Greek Revival structures. The exterior is all trimmed and sided in Boral, a high performance, long-life product that is dimensionally stable and that holds paint very well because it does not absorb moisture. It is held in place with stainless steels screws and nails. We used a ten-step finish to produce an exceptionally smooth, clean look. We make plugs out of Boral and glue them into the places we use screws, we sand those smooth, fill the nail heads, sand and refill them again as the filler shrinks slightly as it dries. We then sand, prime with Benjamin Moore paint, caulk and then paint two finish coats of Benjamin Moore paint. The front steps are local granite from Cleary Stone laid on a reinforced concrete foundation. The home is wired in metal-clad cable rather than Romex wiring. The wall cavities, second-floor ceiling, and basement ceiling and walls have spray foam installed by Todd Frieze, owner of Sprayed On Systems. In addition, all the wall faming on the exterior walls have a one-inch thermal break. The red barn, built this spring, is divided down the middle by the property line between unit 1 and unit 2 so each unit will own their half of the structure. It was built to last hundreds of years. It has six-foot concrete walls including under the center dividing wall, the foundation was filled with drainage stone topped by a concrete floor. The walls are framed with 2” x 6” lumber, covered in Zip board sheathing, and sided with premium-grade pine shiplap boards and painted in Benjamin Moore “Louisiana Hot Sauce”. The roof is a standing seam by Kestral Contracting, installed by owners Ben Danowitz and Ian Fulton. The barn is set up for storage and has electricity, but is also ready to be used as a garden barn, gear barn, artist studio, or many other uses. Much of the work was done by Richmond Restorations, a forty-year-old construction company owned by Gary Bressor. Workers on this project include Lincoln, Jackson and Max Bressor, Ben Feinson and Max King.

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
