We have a newly built two story 800 sq ft cabin available for rent.
We built the structure using non-toxic materials.
Everything is impeccable with lots of natural light (13 windows total). Given that we did the work ourselves from top to bottom, we are specifically looking for a responsible, detailed oriented couple or an individual who will take care of the cabin. This is a custom efficient building surrounded by nature. We have tons of trails and wilderness right outside the door. The area is peaceful and quiet. The cabin has very good internet so fast connectivity is not a problem.
We prefer someone with some type of mountain living/winter experience. We are looking for someone who values cleanliness and organization as part of their living experience. Keeping the space clean and in good working condition is non-negotiable.
Experience operating a wood-stove is a huge plus.
We are located 20 miles west of Boulder. Your commute to Boulder will be of approximate 30 - 40 minutes via Left Hand Canyon Rd. This is a much better commute from a traffic standpoint than Boulder Canyon (If you are familiar with the area). Winter access is excellent as the road is constantly plowed. Given our strong winters, you will need a 4WD/AWD vehicle to live here. We commute to Boulder daily as we run our business predominantly in Boulder. Having said that, please think of our winters as strong and long. The cabin is located on four acres at 9,250 ft of elevation. Though 90% of us who live in this area of Boulder County work in Boulder, this is definitely not Boulder. To live up here you need to love winter. Our winters come with a lot of snow.
The beauty of this building is that, unlike most other Colorado mountain properties, the utility cost is very low. The building is extremely well insulated featuring a 2*6 framing/sprayed insulation combination. The wood-stove inside is excellent. Windows are energy efficient and new. If you like heating with wood, you'll have a very low utility bill. There is also an excellent propane heating stove that provides great backup heat. We designed the building with excellent passive solar gain. This means that even in the dead of the winter, the building is most of the day in the sun. The space is very quiet and its air circulation is very good. The cabin comes with a 150 sq ft south facing deck. You will be surrounded by an aspen grove. The main house in the property is located 350 ft away. There is an 8*8 shed available as a storage facility. There is also plenty of sun should you desire to create a garden.
Depending on your Internet needs your Internet bill can be as low as $50/month or as high as $105/month. Check Nedernet for availability and pricing options. You will be responsible for propane, Internet, electricity and water. Our water comes from a glacier. It is one of the best water sources in the nation. It does not have chlorine or fluorine.
The cabin features stone countertops, stone shower with a bathtub, non-toxic floors, wood ceilings and double pane windows. It also has a French door.
Please know that our property is a drug-free environment. Cannabis only. If you are a tobacco smoker the setup won't work for your needs.
Please note that based on previous experience, the space is not open to cats. We would prefer someone who does not have any pets. Given the landscape in the rental market, we are open to one individual dog under the assumption that you are a responsible dog owner. We have a dog contract in place that we are happy to discuss when you meet us in person. If your dog doesn't follow voice commands, chases wildlife, barks constantly when left unattended and if you are the type of person who doesn't like to clean after your dog, our space won't work for your needs.
We require recent references from previous landlords, a complete background check, first month's rent and an $1,800 deposit.
We have multiple references as landlords as well. We have been landlords and housemates of a different space for over nine years.
Please note that our schedule is super hectic. As such, unfortunately we don't have time to do video tours, chats, Zoom, Facebook Time, etc. We are more than happy to show the space in person and answer all pertinent questions then. We very much appreciate serious inquiries only.

3. We are not interested in flakes. If you are not sure what you are doing, please don't contact us. We are looking for serious and responsible people committed to living in the mountains outside of Boulder. Serious inquiries only please. We have a one year lease in place.
