Welcome to Lee Maine. With a population of less than a thousand people you will not feel crowded here. The town of Lee is home to Silver Lake, Mount Jefferson Ski area and Lee Academy. This former church building with a two bedroom home attached is the perfect opportunity for you to start a lodge, bed and breakfast or small hotel with owners' quarters. Silver Lake (Mattakeunk Lake) is a 530-acre warm water lake and is minutes from the property. This body of water offers excellent swimming at the public beach and boat launch on Coles Landing. The fishing is fantastic with brook trout, small mouth bass, white perch and chain pickerel. You can connect directly to the local atv trail system right from the property. From the local trail you can connect to many other towns throughout Maine. Mount Jefferson Ski area is minutes away and offers 12 trails, two lifts, snow tubing park, lodge with snack bar and best of all, it is rarely busy. The local school is Lee Academy which was established in 1845. The local school children attend but the Academy also hosts international students. Located about 20 minutes from the property is a boat launch to the Penobscot River and the Mattawamkeag Wilderness Park. If you are a canoe or kayak enthusiast try the Penobscot River for easy paddling. If you are up for more of an adventure, try Gordon Falls and Sleugundy Heater Gorge on the Mattawamkeag River.
