Our property is a special one in that we have created a micro farm within town, but outside of Sonoma City Limits. We have a closed system with no food waste because we have a very large garden that can grow much of a family of four's produce. Anything you do not eat, you can feed to the chickens. The chickens assure we have zero food waste. In turn, they supply us with eggs, the excess of which we give away or sell to neighbors. The chickens then create rich compost that goes back into the garden to grow vegetables. We have two plum trees, one apple, one lemon, one persimmon tree, one fig tree, two Bing cherry trees, and one walnut tree, but the squirrels always get all the walnuts.
All of this means there is a lot of work. This is a property that requires a lot of care. If you don't want to grow your food and have chickens, then this is not the property for you. However, if this is starting to sound appealing, please read on.
We have a dedicated space for rabbits, which we call the rabbitat. We don't eat our rabbits, they are pets, but you can do whatever you want. There is an outdoor Tuff shed for storage. There is also an area under a roof that can serve as a potting space or other storage for things that may get damp. We also have a one car garage that is currently set up as a wood shop.
Our house is officially a 2 bedroom 1 bath (there is no tub, only a shower), but we have a detached building that we use as a third bedroom. No bathroom in the third bedroom have to come into the house. There are two outbuildings in addition to the main house.
Even though there is a lot of agricultural type areas on the property, there is still a huge yard for wine country evenings around a fire pit. We have had many a wonderful evening in the yard. Our neighbors are very friendly, and the neighborhood is safe and quiet.
I've included many photos of the property, but not one of the main bedroom and outside bedroom as they are in a state that is unpresentable due to packing.
There is another unit at the front of the property, but that unit is very private from the main part of the property.
Again, this property is for those who want a certain lifestyle, and that lifestyle takes work. The rewards are well worth it, however.
It is best that you include a bio of yourself and who will be living here. I have spent 10 years creating this urban micro farm, and we aren't going to rent to you unless you are a good fit. We don't mean to be rude, but you must be the right person(s). Please know that we will require good credit and references.
