100 yards to the “El Portal” stairs down to the beach and the beach trail that takes you to the San Clemente Pier less than a mile to the south. The full beach trail is 3.5 miles long and provides a lovely walk along the white sandy beach. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the trail all year long. At the south end of the trail is San Clemente State Beach and Park and the North end is North Beach and train station. Upstairs. The North Beach area includes restaurants and cafes like Moulin, Landers, Beach Hut Deli and historic Casino San Clemente and Ole Hanson Beach Club (which also has a swimming pool). North Beach train station provides quick and easy access to San Diego, Los Angeles, and other points north. San Clemente Outlets. The new San Clemente outlets are also in north San Clemente, a 20-minute walk on beautiful ocean-view trails. The Outlets have lots of great shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre. San Clemente Pier. A 15-minute walk south on the beach or the beach trail brings you to the San Clemente pier, where you will find more restaurants, local shops, surfers, and stunning ocean views. The famous Fisherman’s Restaurant is on the pier and there are many more shops and restaurants as you walk up historic Avenida Del Mar to “downtown” San Clemente. There is also a train station at the pier. Other great locations are a short drive away. Driving north, Dana Point Harbor is only 15 minutes away. Continuing north, Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove, Corona del Mar, Newport Beach are all within a 30-minute drive up the coast. Historic San Juan Capistrano is a 15-minute drive up the freeway. Disneyland & Knotts Berry Farm are a 45-minute drive.
