Built in 1919, this house retains its original oak hardwood floors and oak trim throughout. It would have originally had an unfinished attic which looks like it was finished in the 50s-60s and then remodeled in the early 2000s. When I bought the house it had a leaky roof that had destroyed all the framing in the dining room ceiling and exterior wall so this was a pretty big remodel. While we were at it we added the primary bath, which in my opinion, is the icing on the cake for this house.
It literally has the biggest primary bath and the biggest primary closet of any house I have. We put a "faux finish" on the basement and brightened it up so that it could be used as bonus living space or dry storage. The house has an awesome front porch and is on a quiet street close to 1st Ave and minutes from Collins and the interstate. Right down the street from Arthur Elementary.
This house has an awesome open floorpan in the way that the living room opens up into the dining to make an extra large space. It has 9' ceilings and two "adult sized" bedrooms on the 1st floor. It was common in the early 1900s to have one decent sized bedroom and then others that were smaller and used as libraries or sewing rooms or cradle rooms. Both of these bedrooms could comfortably fit a queen or king sized bed and both have decent closets. And then there is the original clawfoot tub! It's larger than a newer tub and perfect for soaking.
We updated 90% of the electrical in the house and it has a newer style panel. It has a newer roof and original windows with good storms so that it should be better for utilities. We updated 100% of the plumbing and it just got a brand new water heater. All of the appliances of course are brand new It has a gas stove. For the fixtures we did 100% LEDs and we went with oil rubbed bronze finishes to try and match the original door hardware.
It has a detached garage and then there is room for off street parking in the back. It has a fenced yard and a cute little back patio in a secluded yard.
