Dear Future Homeowner, This lovely rancher has been our happy home for 16 years. Due to family circumstances, we have regretfully relocated. I recently did major replacements anticipating that everything would be ready for my retirement. But that just shows you, you can't plan for everything.I first chose Catonsville because it has the top schools in the area, Westchester Elementary, Catonsville Middle School and Catonsville High School, with the school bus stop just two houses away. The first thing I fell in love with was the kitchen. Coming from a family of 11, the large kitchen made me feel at home. We spent many happy hours gathered around the table whether doing homework, crafts, baking, visiting or enjoying family meals. The large window brings the morning sun. So if you're a morning person, grab your cup of coffee and head for the deck.Having grown up in the area, the back yard and deck gave me the feel of being in the country while having neighbor's right next door. You have privacy, trees, and nature (but luckily very little raking in the fall). If you get up early enough you might find some of the local deer taking a morning stroll. We had many happy cookouts and large family gatherings both on the deck and in the house.Have you notice the closets ABOVE the closets? The extra storage space under the stairs and under the kitchen were bonuses. People often wondered where all my holiday decorations, extra chairs, tables, camping gear and things came from.My son enjoyed the basement bedroom and it gave me a craft room/office upstairs. The family room, in which I had 2 trundle beds as sofas, was perfect for the many, many sleepovers and teen gatherings. I was also always able to put up out of town family members with no notice at all. With a computer nook in one corner, a game station in another, and the TV we are able to be together even while enjoying different activities. And did I mention the storage - how I miss it!The street being only a block long means there is very little traffic. I felt very comfortable with the children riding bikes, skateboarding and skating out front. And while we're talking about kids, not that I recommend it, but I can't tell you how many times someone forgot to close the front door or I couldn't find my keys and the next morning found them in my trunk in the driveway where someone forgot to close the trunk after helping bring in groceries. You will feel very safe here.We would bike up to Opies Snowball stand in good weather. And if you do, don't miss Scittinos as their pizza is delicious and the Italian deli is marvelous. And you are right on the edge of Ellicott City! We often walked, biked or skated the Trolley Trail down into Ellicott City. Walked along the Patapsco River and stopped for a treat before heading home again.I hope your family enjoys and loves this house as we did.
