This rental is the downstairs half of a 2-story duplex. We're in the process of installing new kitchen cabinets and repainting throughout. It will be available December 1 or shortly after, depending on completion of the renovations. The property is located in Big Sandy Mush, in a scenic cove with level access. There are panoramic mountain views and two creeks, flowering shrubs, fruit trees, blueberries, and raspberries. The neighborhood is quiet and the mountain views are magnificent. This is some of the most beautiful countryside in Buncombe County.
The apartment is 936 square feet, has a separate, private entrance and is separately metered. It has one big bedroom, a very large bath, open living room/kitchen, screened porch overlooking a creek, and storage room with access from inside and outside. It has central mini-split heat and air, wood stove, ceiling fans, stove and fridge, and washer/dryer. Water and septic are provided.
The property is set on an acre of land with mountain views all round, and bordered by two creeks. The view is unimpeded and there's plenty of privacy. There's a large lawn and mature plantings including a huge weeping willow and flowering shrubs. There are red raspberries, blueberries, and a large shared garden.
This is a rural neighborhood. The upstairs residents are homesteaders who raise chickens for eggs and meat, which they sell at local tailgate markets. The house is adjacent to an additional 2 acres with pasture and a small creekside campground with a stone firepit/grill. I use the pasture for horses, but you're welcome to use the firepit area and campground. There are also great hiking trails nearby.
Garrett Cove Road is gravel but fairly level. It's still being worked on since the storm, but it's fully drivable now. It does snow in this area, and if you intend to travel in snow you'll need 4-wheel drive, but not for regular travel.
The rent is $1200 per month. Water and septic are provided. No smoking allowed indoors. You are responsible for maintenance and/or repair of the washer/dryer. One year renewable lease, first and last month's rent, one month security deposit. These can be spread over the first three months. Pets will be considered on a case by case basis, with $200 nonrefundable deposit per pet. The upstairs tenants have Great Pyrenees to protect their chickens, so any dogs would need to get along with them.
