Mason is a small rural community (Pop. 1300 +/-). The home is on a private lot located on a rural road, about 1/4 mile from Mason Town Center, where you can find the local church and elementary school. We conducted a series of upgrades to the home over the first 5 years. The first winter here revealed an apparent that lack of insulation… the home was chilly, especially with a north-westerly wind. The following spring, I had insulation blown-in by a professional. In order to ‘button the house up’, I removed the original clapboards and inspected for missing or lose boards underneath. I also replaced every single-pane window with Anderson Series 400 windows. This greatly improved the insulating qualities, thus making the home much more comfortable. Even the Generac 13Kw standby-generator is very quiet when it test-runs for 12-minutes a week or during a power-outage. In addition to the home’s history, the home/property shows a level of charm. The separate building (We call it ‘the barn’) offers a place for guests to stay – it includes its own ¾ bathroom, complete w/a radiant-heat tile floor. It is also my ‘man cave’, as I use it to house my amateur radio station. Under ‘the barn’ is a 2-1/2 car garage – the ‘half’ referring to a workshop. The garage includes a “Modine” -type propane heater. The upstairs guest quarters has a propane wall-unit propane heater w/Wi-Fi thermostat, so that one may preheat the room if working over there in the winter. Adjacent to the barn is a 15ft diameter above-ground pool (TOO MUCH granite in the Granite State; therefore too much blasting req’d to have an in-ground pool.
