The livable 539 sq ft is to the rear of the house. That part of the house is heated by 2 plug in electric heaters. The remaining 1900 sq ft is a two story log house with a frame house built to and around it, which greatly protected the logs. This part is not livable. The log part was built about 1870 by Capt. James Simmons, upon his return from the Civil War. The logs are 10-12 inches wide and 5-6 inches thick being 4ft, 10ft, 16ft the longest 30+ in length.
