MICHIGAN 80+/- ACRE WOODED PARCEL FOR SALE! This 80-Acre Parcel is located in Laird Township - Central Houghton County, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Coffee Creek (some maps say Coffie Creek) is just a quarter mile to the east of this property. This creek flows northeasterly into Greenier Creek. The Greenier continues northward until it joins the West Branch of the Otter River. This river supports good Brook trout fishing and sees some Steelhead in the Spring. The Sturgeon River is a half-mile away. The Sturgeon River rises on the glacially-eroded plateau that forms much of southern Baraga County. It flows westward through the Copper Country State Forest, and enters the Ottawa National Forest north of Watton. The 25.0 miles-length of the river's course in this national forest has been listed as a wild and scenic river, with 16.5 miles of it designated as Wild and 8.5 miles as Scenic. On this stretch, which crosses and recrosses the border between Baraga County and Houghton County, the river helps to form the Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness and flows over Sturgeon Falls. After leaving the Ottawa National Forest west of Baraga, Sturgeon River flows northward, again crossing and recrossing the Baraga-Houghton County line and running generally parallel to the western shore of Keweenaw Bay. The river discharges into Portage Lake near Chassell, Michigan. The Wild and Scenic portion of the Sturgeon River, within the Ottawa National Forest, is classified as a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream. The parcel being offered for sale is about 65% Upland, and 35% Lowland, with a landscape that is a combination of rolling and level areas. Northern Hardwood type trees (Sugar maple, Red maple, and Basswood) dominate the uplands, with hemlock and conifer type trees occupying the lower lands. There is excellent access to this parcel, and private woods trails traverse through the property. Many Game and Non-Game woodland animals and birds call this property "Home". The Winona-Alston Multi-Use State Trail is located about 7 miles away. The western border of the parcel adjoins Corporate CFA lands, and the southern border is adjacent to thousands of acres of Ottawa National Forest Lands for additional hiking, hunting and fishing opportunities. The Ottawa National Forest covers 993,010 acres in the Upper Peninsula, and includes much of Gogebic and Ontonagon counties, as well as slices of Iron, Houghton, Baraga, and Marquette counties. The National Forest extends from the south shore of Lake Superior to the Wisconsin border and is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service. The area is rich in wildlife viewing opportunities in it's old-growth forests - and breathtaking views of rolling hills dotted with lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Wildlife is abundant, with Black bear, Moose, White-tailed deer, Timber wolves, Bald eagles, Coyotes, Foxes, Beavers, and Loons among the Woodland animals that can be seen. There are ten ponds to explore within... Continued In Addendum
