Fully furnished two-level houseboat in a marina with other boats and barges, available this spring, with somewhat flexible dates, roughly from mid-April to mid-October. Located just off the Burke-Gilman trail at Gas Works Park Marina for easy bike access to other areas of Seattle and the University of Washington (1 mile). One bedroom. One bathroom.
Main level -- Salon (living room), full kitchen (the galley), full bathroom (the head), and a tiny room with narrow (27" wide) built-in bed.
Upper level -- Accessed by ladder. Queen built-in bed. Two closets. Sun room. Ladder to roof deck (view of downtown and the Space Needle from the roof deck).
This is "boat" living, with the expected lack of luxury (e.g., no dishwasher), but it's amazingly cozy and comfortable. You would need to be agile enough to negotiate the boat's ladders and steps. I am looking for someone who likes boats and understands the responsibilities* and slight inconveniences that go with boat-living.
Rent includes garbage, water and DirecTV (satellite). but no Wi-fi (you may be able to work out an arrangement with a neighbor to share their Wi-fi). Renter responsible for refills of propane tank for stove ($15 every 2 months), blackwater pump-outs ($25 per pump-out) and electricity (avg. $15/month in summer; $30 in fall). On-land marina facilities include laundry machines ($1.50 wash/$1.25 dry) and toilets/showers.
$1,750/month, with one-time, non-refundable move-in fee of $100. Security deposit ($800) and first and last month's rent due at lease-signing; Renter's insurance (not very expensive) also REQUIRED. No smoking, and, sorry, no pets.
*Our marina has strict guidance rules for protecting the water we live in, including prevention of water pollution and minimizing discharge of potentially harmful gray-water from boats. The marina also has night-time and early-morning quiet hours. Renters are required to read, understand and respect the rules of our marina and community. It's not difficult, but it does require mindfulness.
This is a small houseboat in a marina. Marina pays for garbage and water, but renter will be responsible for other household expenses: blackwater tank pump out ($25/per pumpout), propane tank refill ($15 per 2 months), electricity ($15/month in summer/$30 in fall). Owner pays for the DirecTV (satellite) but renter will have to arrange his/her own Wi-Fi. Marina requires renter to familiarize self with water pollution-prevention methods, and be familiar with the marina's house rules.
