This historic home in Chickasaw was lovingly restored with great attention to historical accuracy. Designed by the architect, William March, and built around 1919, the home was purchased by the present owner in 2010. After researching the homeâEUR(tm)s history and an extensive 14-month rehabilitation, the house today provides modern conveniences but retains its turn-of-the-century character.Walk through the white picket fence gate and up the stairs to enter the kitchen from the open porch. The cheery kitchen has new white cabinets with tiled countertops and breakfast bar, gas stove, built-in microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and double stainless sink. The laundry area is located within the kitchen but is tucked away behind folding doors. The kitchen, separate dining room, living room and half bathroom are located on the first floor, while the bedrooms and a full bathroom are upstairs. A petite screened-in porch is off of the living room. One of the bedrooms upstairs was once a sleeping porch. It has since been enclosed and is heated and cooled and has windows but due to its original purpose and construction, does not have a closet. Both bathrooms were completely rebuilt and include modern fixtures and lighting. With the exception of the bathrooms which are tiled, the whole house boasts its original wood floors. According to the owner, the house was re-wired, re-plumbed, and in 2013, new insulation and a new HVAC system were installed. With all of these updates, the owner was still able to restore the house accurately and obtain a historical designation through the National Park Service and the Chickasaw Historic Preservation Commission.
