    What's special

2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom PET FRIENDLY townhouse available June 1st, 2016! This unit is part of the Prairie Glen East Townhouse Cooperative community and is a quick 5-7 minute drive to the vet school. It comes with all lawn care, snow removal, and maintenance taken care of. This unit is only ~$430/month in rent, and can house 2-3. These townhouses are located very close to the vet school and all that Manhattan has to offer. There is a fenced-in back patio with excellent neighbors, including many graduate and veterinary students. Pets are welcome here! This is a quiet and safe community that is a wonderful place to call home. It is a 2-story unit with a half-finished basement and plenty of storage. It's 1,035 square feet. There is a common grassy area behind the fenced-in patio and a park close by with quick local access to Linear Trail. To qualify for living here, there must be at least 2 adults moving in (can have more adults if two couples want to move in) with an income not to exceed $39,000 per year. As part of the Co-op requirement, you have to "buy in" and purchase the equity that is currently on the property ($9,424). Then, while you rent the townhouse, it continues to accrue equity that the next renter will pay when you sell and they buy in. Essentially, you'll be earning everything that you initially put down PLUS the interest (~33 each month) that it earns while you live there! Many improvements have been made to my unit over the past few years, which include: I have additional storage capacity in my unit that was added by the previous owners (that other units do not have). I have also made numerous improvements to the units, including ceiling fans/light fixtures in the kitchen, master bedroom, other bedroom; mirrored closet doors in both bedrooms; extra closet shelving in both bedrooms; one additional closet in the master bedroom; extra shelving in the master bedroom; shelving in the basement study/living area; privacy fence around the patio; landscaping in the patio; light fixture in the upstairs hallway; bathroom vanity and sink/storage area in the upstairs bathroom; extra over-the-toilet storage in the main-level bathroom; tile flooring in the kitchen; wooden railings leading from the main level to upstairs; new blinds on the bedroom and living room windows. I have absolutely loved living here but am moving out of state to start my veterinary career and am looking to find a buyer for this place that I've called home. Since December 2008 during my freshman year of college, I have lived at Prairie Glen East Cooperative on the east side of Manhattan. It's off of Allen Road and Tuttle Creek Blvd and is a quick 5-7 minute drive to the vet school. This is a very quiet neighborhood, and it houses quite a few veterinary and graduate students, as well as families and older couples. It's really been a great place to live for the past 7.5 years. The way in which this community works is that you "buy" the unit when you "buy in" to the coop. The fee in which you pay to the coop will earn interest every month that you live here, and you'll get that initial down payment PLUS interest back, when you move out! The monthly rent that you then pay is incredibly reasonable ($434 for a nice 2 bedroom townhouse is a great deal!). Please contact Hannah (HRLvet@vet.ksu.edu) if interested in more information and photos. There is some paperwork involved with the complex, so the sooner the process is started if you're interested, the better.
