    What's special

Located in the heart of the Flint Hills, this historic Kansas home was featured on the 2009 Garden Tour and the 2015 Holiday Homes Tour. The charming stone exterior blends with the completely renovated interior to offer a one-of-a-kind find. Rev. Williams Mccollom Served on the Board of Trustees for Bluemont College (which eventually turned Into Kansas State Agricultural College, which then became Kansas State College) was a recipient of a federal land grant of 160 acres, 40 of which he deeded to Bluemont Central College. Mccollom helped plat the town of Bluemont in 1858 and built a small one bedroom two-story house on the furthest Southeast corner of Bluemont. Bluemont Township eventually dissolved and later turn Into what we know today, as Manhattan. In August 1868, Major General John W Davidson purchased the home and served under the Union Army during the Civil War during that time he made several substantial additions, he replaced the porch and expanded the second story. In May 1941, the property was purchased by Mildred J. Farrell (wife of President F.d. Farrell) the house was originally an investment property for the Farrell's during World War II and housed two military families. Then later moved into the house after Dr. Farrell's retirement from the University and lived there until Mrs. Ferrell's passing in 1965. June 1967 the home was purchased by Nancy and Tex Winters (one of the Most famous Kansas State men's basketball head coaches).
