Saco is located only 11+/- miles from Nelson Reservoir and Sleeping Buffalo.  The Nelson Reservoir/Sleeping Buffalo area see's regular visitors from across the US because of the vast array of recreational opportunities, including fishing, hunting, camping, and many other activities.  Sleeping Buffalo has two commercial establishments, Murph's Landing, a bar and local meeting place and the Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs & Resort that offers swimming, sauna, cabins, luxury suites & RV park.  The Charles M. Russel National Wildlife Refuge and the sought-after Missouri River breaks are roughly 64+/- miles away and offers some of the best big game hunting and wildlife viewing in the United States.   28+/- Miles from the town of Malta, MT, the county seat of Phillips County.  There you'll find the Phillips County Hospital, a grocery store, United States Post Office, grade school, middle school, & high school, churches, Amtrak train station, Phillips County Regional Airport, Phillips County Museum, many retail shops, eateries, taverns, a local brewery, along with many other businesses and amenities.  Population of about 2,000.
