This house was built for Frank H. and Effie Rideout in 1899. Frank was an instructor in the reformatory (now MCI Concord). The family had twins - Percy and Gertrude. Percy was killed in World War I, and Rideout Park was named after him. Gertrude became an English teacher at Concord high school; she lead the theater program. In the 1970s, Chet and Cory Atkins bought the house and lived here while Chet served in the U.S. Congress. John Kerry held one of his first Senate campaign events in the living room. In the early 90s, Steve Leach of the Boston Bruins owned the house.
