    If you are looking for a peaceful setting that is close to town yet secluded enough, you will love this property. Loving primitive with a perfect setting - again, you will love this property. Located just 2 miles from the west side of Salem off of route 56, it is on Drive-In Theater Road which is a dead end road. Total of 4.69 acres - 2 1/2 acres fenced with the rest in woods. The log cabin is set back off the road which was moved from New Philadelphia Indiana to its location in 1985. An addition was built at that time. The log cabin which is guessed to be 150 - 200 years old would have been considered large when it was originally built using large poplar trees - in fact they had to use a crane to reconstruct it. We sided the new section with concrete siding. It has 3 large bedrooms all located on the 2nd floor along with 1 bath with tub and shower. The 1st floor is just as a log cabin was when built - but they didn't know that the open floor plan would be highly sought after 200 years later! There are stairs going up and stairs going down to the basement in between the old log cabin and the addition. Located in the unfinished 1064 sq ft basement is washer and dryer hook-up. A Timberline wood stove and brand new Rheem furnace heat the log cabin. For 13 years we have heated it entirely with wood. The cabin will come with a large Husky wood splitter and a Stihl chainsaw. The pole barn shed measures 24 x 30. The wood shed is attached. There is a two sided chicken coop that looks like it belongs on Laura Ingalls Little House In The Prairie! We have made improvements by putting the wrap around porch on 3 sides, new windows and built on a screened in porch. In 2118 we replaced the reverse osmosis and UV Ray water system. We also replaced the gas water heater to an electric water heater. When moving in, we had stainless steel chimney liners put in both the fireplace and the wood stove chimney’s. We are leaving two floor ac units to cool cabin. This spring I had $700 worth of gravel put on driveway. A beautiful setting with 2 vegetable gardens and a flower garden - have included pictures of lots of veggies - either grown here or purchased from the Amish which are located both on the east and west side of town. With a short 47 minute commute to Louisville - you can have lots to do or better yet relocate here and commute to Louisville! Property sold "AS IS". Due to Covid 19, no more than 2 people to look at house and masks required.
