One of the oldest homes in Natchez; built by slaves who built Texada next door and was the home for four servant families for Texada; circa 1793; Oldest servants quarters and the only known solid wood two-story slave quarters in the State of Mississippi; entire 1072 square foot home handcrafted with large old cypress planks; floors, walls and ceilings all old cypress; largest plank measures at 19.25" across in the ceiling downstairs; home rests on original cypress beam(house was built symmetrical with a double-sided brick fireplace upstairs and downstairs with four separate living quarters); fireplace is no longer there but bricks from the original are underneath and center of the house; circa 1793 cypress house is covered by a 1920's exterior facade; located 1 1/2 blocks from the Bluff of the Mississippi River in the Spanish Quarter of historic downtown Natchez; would make a wonderful bed and breakfast or weekend getaway; in walking distance of everything downtown
