Built in 1721, then opened as "Littlefield Tavern" in 1750 by Ephraim Littlefield. The tavern soon became the center of activity in "Braggville" providing food, drink, entertainment lodging for regular patrons travelers. According to town history, President George Washington stopped here to quench his thirst rest his horses in 1789. It was also once headquarters for the local 18th century militiamen known as the "RangDeDangs". Later, the traveling Punch and Judy shows were a form of entertainment in the second floor dance hall.
