    What's special

*****THIS HOME UNDER CONTRACT*****______Donna & I have been here 20 yrs. We are only the 2nd owners of "Brandts Cabin" built in 1941 out of the last chestnut trees in these woods. Built as a hunting camp, the Brandts moved here full time and operated a greenhouse/nursery for years. They added an addition to the house that fell into disrepair. We bought the house at auction without stepping foot inside for $66K. We demolished part of the addition and built a new one from the ground up but we left the original log house alone, we love it the way it is with vaulted ceiling and mountain stone fireplace, all original chestnut logs & chinking. We put a modern kitchen and bathroom in the new addition. I reinforced and remodeled the two bedrooms & bath in the old addition and used the 600 sq ft heated shop to build wooden products over the years. Our special needs son occupies the bed & bath upstairs with a guest bedroom at the rear. The property features two different trout streams, Lost Creek and Tennis Run. Both support a thriving native trout population. We are visited often by turkey, deer, and the occasional bear who destroys our bird feeders. We have enjoyed being close to nature all these years and only because of our poor health have we decided to move close to our daughter, an RN in North Carolina. The property features many fruit trees and other trees both exotic and common, it has a "secret garden" that has 8' privacy fence overgrown with honeysucle, grape, and other vines. There is a goldfish pond there with bridge that has supported a hundred fish that we have never fed or added to. I built a stone floor gazebo where I sat and watched these fish for years. It is all getting overgrown and run down since I can no longer tend to it. There are a few run down outbuildings that are good for storage, a picnic ground with several tables and a firepit for cook outs, there are covered swings at several scenic spots along the creeks. We hope to find buyers with the energy to improve that we had 20 yrs ago.
