    What's special

MICHIGAN HUNT-FISH PROPERTY FOR SALE! This 3-ACRE WOODED RECREATIONAL PARCEL IS LOCATED IN NORTH-EASTERN MATCHWOOD TOWNSHIP, IN ONTONAGON COUNTY, MICHIGAN! Ontonagon County is located in the northwestern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is bordered on the northwest by Lake Superior, by Gogebic County to the west and south, and by Houghton and Iron Counties to the east. The nearest unincorporated community of Matchwood is located on M-28, about 2+ miles to the south. At one time the Diamond Match Company owned most of the pine producing land in the area. They founded this village in 1888 to accommodate are supply their logging camps. Matchwood, was once a thriving village but was wiped out by forest fires that took place in 1893, and after being rebuilt, again in 1906. Ontonagon has historically been focused on copper mining, and forestry, but in the later years of the 20th century, the economy began to shift toward tourism because of its attractive wilderness woods and waters. Ontonagon has 45 streams and rivers! Shoemaker Creek, a tributary of the East Branch of the Ontonagon River flows through the property. Access to the East Branch is just 4 miles to the north up Norwich Road. This cool water fishery supports walleyes, smallmouth bass and northern pike - and trout. You can launch your canoe or kayak off of Norwich road, too. A Quarter-Mile to the north is access to the Ottawa National Forest. This almost one million acre tract stretches from Lake Superior down to Wisconsin touching five counties. This Forest land provides opportunities for whitewater rafting, waterfall viewing, hunting, fishing, and camping. The area is known for its year-round recreation opportunities. Spring brings the winter snow melts feeding the 18 waterfalls in the County, and canoeing and kayaking is at their peak. Summer recreation opportunities include camping, hiking, fishing, and canoeing, as well as golfing. A playground and beach on Lake Gogebic, the largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula is a half hour drive away. When fall comes the turning of the leaves create fantastic colors to view along the back woods roads. Fall hunting for small and big game is superb. Winter recreation enthusiasts delight in the Ottawa's location in the heart of "Big Snow Country." Winter opportunities include skiing, (cross country and downhill), snowboarding, skijoring, snow shoeing and ice fishing. Ontonagon County hosts a significant trail network for both motorized and non-motorized recreation. The Pioneer Multi-Use State Trail Number 13 is about 3+ miles to the north west. The North Country Scenic Trail (NCST), used for hiking, runs west to east through the central part of the county, including the Porcupine Mountains State Park. [The trail is ultimately planned to extend from North Dakota to New York State] is about six miles to the north. The Bergland to Sidnaw Rail Trail Number 8 runs along M-28 just three miles to the south. Continuued In Addendum
