Condominium 1609, Playa Azul III, Luquillo, PR has been our winter home for many years. We are getting older and need to ‘scale down’ and let someone else enjoy this beautiful tropical paradise. Please read on……
Our condominium is very spacious and full of light and air; no exaggeration! It is in “move in” condition and completely updated with some recently purchased furnishings and appliances. All the walls are off-white with an off-white tile floor throughout.
Condominiums, here, are not just seasonal homes. Many are year round residences.
Our condo is protected with a 40 foot electric hurricane shutter system which also functions asa sun shade. It takes just about 1 minute with a flick of a switch to close the shutters down tight and secure.
The floor plan of our condo is ideal because the two bedrooms are large enough to be considered master bedrooms. They are located at opposite ends of the condominium which offers privacy. Each has a full private bathroom along with large walk-in closets. One bedroom has additional space for an office.
Between the two bedrooms of the floor plan is a very large living room with many custom built-ins with floor to ceiling bookcases and a large linen closet. The fully applianced kitchen (with stacked washer/dryer), dining room and balcony stem off of the large central living room.
Our 30 ‘balcony speaks for itself and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans. Depending on the season the roar of the waves can mute any conversation but usually it’s something to fall asleep
About a 20 minute drive away is the El Faro Lighthouse Museum & adjacent Las Cabezas Nature Reserve (bioluminescent mangrove lagoon) a ‘must see’ for you and your guests. Nearby is the port town of Fajardo where you can hire a boat for sailing/boating, snorkeling/SCUBA, Blue Marlin fishing and ferries to Culebra and Vieques. You can even find local fishermen selling their catch of the day on the side of the road. The historic walled fortress city of Old San Juan is a 45 minute drive in the other direction.
Playa Aul is made up of three buildings and is a totally enclosed complex with double security. The entire complex area is fenced in. The main gate entrance is controlled by a 24 hour security guard who validates each car gaining entrance.
Each lobby, also, has a 24 hour guard.
All three buildings are 22 stories and each has their own parking lot area. The grounds are beautifully kept and landscaped. For kids there is a toddlers’ pool, see-saws, slides, swings, etc. There is also a large, well maintained, pool, tennis, basketball and handball courts and an abundance of space to exercise or rest while enjoying the sun. Access to the beach is through a locked gate that requires a special key that is made available to owners/renters.
In the common courtyard area there is a clubhouse where business meetings, parties and card games are organized by residents. This is the place that brings everyone together socially and by attending various functions we have met many wonderful friends.
A grocery store, drug store, gas station, bank with ATM and several restaurants are all within walking distance.
