    What's special

Tucked on a quite county road in White Hall Maryland lies this beautiful historic farm. The property consists of two parcels totaling 35.4 acres of fenced pasture and woods and is uniquely suited for horse lovers. The residence combines original historic features with a newer renovation and addition to create a simply elegant property. The historic residence was constructed circa 1872 by the Hunter and Nelson families. The residence consists of original historic details including wood floors, molding, and original wood pane windows. The home was thoughtfully renovated in 2017 including the large gourmet kitchen. The French style light filled kitchen includes a professional Lacanche range for the aspiring chef. The wood burning fireplace makes the kitchen a warm inviting space. The views of the pastures and ample space make it a centerpiece of the home. Located just off the kitchen, the formal dining room is perfect for entertaining guests. The great room with colossal stone hearth fireplace is perfect spot to enjoy the views of the pastures while entertaining. Finishing the main level is the light filled living room with a cozy fireplace and original mantel. The second floor comprises two bedrooms, laundry room, full bathroom, and primary suite. The primary bedroom includes walk-in closet space, fireplace, and bathroom suite. The bedroom looks directly out to the horse barn, and to the far field. The third floor encompasses two cozy rooms for office space or bedrooms. A highlight for any historic house aficionado is the picturesque front porch with views down to the stone spring house and trees which is especially beautiful in the autumn. The property also consists of other building including a fully renovated carriage house with storage and workshop, horse stables, Amish built post and beam barn/garage, stone spring house, and stone smokehouse. Entryway electric gates provide both privacy and security. Easily accessible to I-83, Hunt Valley, and Pennsylvania. The home is a short walk to NCR Trail. History: The first transfer of the property was in June 1876. The property was transferred from the Hunter, Nelson, and Heffner families to Peter G. Hunter. The current owners found a box of glass negatives in the attic of the home. Upon research we found that they are collodion wet plate negatives in use from @1851 until the 1880s. The photo tour includes these picture believed to be the original owners of the property. Horse Facilities: Stable: The four-stall horse barn was constructed in 2018 and is exceptional in its design. Some of the many features include swinging partitions for easy cleaning and automatic Nelson waters with cutoffs for each unit. Behind the horse stalls is a hall for easy feeding and storage with access to each stall through 'Dutch' doors. The second floor of the stable comprises a large storage area with drop doors for hay and shavings for each stall. The stable also contains a wash stall with hot and cold water and rodent proof storage. Fencing: A highlight of the property is the extensive fencing. All fencing is post and 4 rail on the exterior of the pastures with post and 3 rail in the interior with 4 cm tape on the top rail for added security. Over a mile of fencing has been installed and is all very well maintained thought the property. Arena: The arena has Stancills custom Equestrian footing(60X100 feet). Barn/Garage: The 5-bay post and beam garage/barn was designed by the owner with a European style roof, cupola, and copper gutters. The structure(64x24) was cut and set by Reihl Construction in 2015.Concrete pad behind the building has a conduit in place for a large generator. Carriage House/Workshop: The carriage house was fully renovated in 2021 and includes a full kitchen, full bath, one bedroom, and a sitting area with propane stove.
