Hemlock Run combines the best of historic house features with some cool contemporary spaces. The central portion of Hemlock Run, built around 1916, was moved to its brighter, current location in 2008. This core section was placed on steel beams over a new foundation, which created a generous amount of added living and storage space in the new walk-out basement. A contemporary sun room was added, and the entire house enjoyed new plumbing, heating and electric, as well as new rigid foam insulation. The wide covered porch offers a fine welcome, and the front door opens into the living room, which is the hub of the house from which several other rooms are accessed. The L-shaped kitchen, renovated in 2013, features an apron-front sink set into butcher block counters, plenty of Shaker-style cabinetry, horizontal pine paneling and open shelving. There is a gas stove, dishwasher drawers, and French door refrigerator. Heading upstairs, where even the landing has nooks and crannies that make for ideal decor vignettes, there are two more bedrooms, both en suite, and both with pleasing partially-sloped ceilings. The guest bedroom has a bathroom that features a tiled shower. Across the hall, the master suite is expansive, with a recess that provides additional architectural interest, and six large windows. The third fireplace is here in the master bedroom. The white tiled bathroom has a wide custom vanity made by a local artisan, and a claw foot tub. Back down to the lower level, which was renovated in 2017, and the vertical slats that line the stairway create the wall for the TV in the lounge that makes up the greater part of this lower level space. There's a new half bath, and a large laundry room. The utilities are tucked away but easily accessible, and there is a large, dry storage room. The flagstone patio is a delightfully sunny spot, with pretty landscaping along one sloped edge and above the gorgeous stone retaining wall. (There are numerous examples of eye-catching stonework around the property). This is the barbecue/cocktails/fire pit and probably coffee/local eggs/every meal spot, as long as the temps allow. The grounds extend to a brief clearing overlooking the patio, and then up into the woods. A one car garage with loft space sits on the other side of the house, just down from the old house site.
