Neighborhood Description
Although the house is situated in a quiet setting, the town of Middlebury and Middlebury College are less than three miles away. The school systems are Cornwall elementary, and Middlebury middle school and high school. There are several private schools in the area.
Bittersweet falls is a secluded beautiful spot only 2 miles away. There is a horse farm to the east, and an alpaca farm to the west. The town of Middlebury thrives due to its proximity to the college. There are shops and restaurants, the Middlebury Inn, Inn on the Green and several B&B's in the area. There are many trails, as well as Snake Mountain nearby for hiking. The lovely city of Burlington is a one-hour drive away. Lake Champlain and Church Street are highlights of the city (the lake travels the western border of Vermont.) Church Street is a great place to spend an afternoon if you want to walk, browse, shop, or stop for coffee or chocolate. Restaurants are plentiful. Our favorites are Trattoria Delia and Leunig's. Black Sheep Bistro in Vergennes and Bobcat Cafe are other favorites. You can hike and picnic at Mt. Philo, about 16 miles from Cornwall. Cornwall is a very sweet town and Middlebury and other nearby towns all have established a sense of community.
