I lived here for three years while I attended law school. I would give anything to take the townhouse and my landlady down to Charlotte with me. The place has a lot of space and an open floor plan with a great deck which made it fantastic to entertain friends. I'm showing/renting it on behalf of my landlady, Lynn, who is amazing in every respect. This place is perfect for grad students given its proximity to UNC and the bus system, as well as any young professionals who want access to Chapel Hill and Raleigh/Durham, since it's so close to I-40. Lynn's looking for a long-term renter, with a minimum one-year lease. Happy to talk more, here are some details: LOCATION Finley Forest is: 2 miles from UNC Chapel Hill -- 2 miles from I-40 (easy access to Raleigh and Durham, 15-20 minutes each, depending where) -- Right across the street from Meadowmont (Harris Teeter (supermarket), restaurants, caf, etc.) -- 2 minute walk to the Friday Center bus stop (Triangle has great, free transportation); this was perfect location for me to take bus to UNC -- Trader Joes, Fresh Market, and Whole Foods all within 3 miles -- 5 minute drive to Franklin Street (main street of downtown Chapel Hill) -- Immediately on a greenway (paved walk/bike path) -- A community of privately owned townhomes: feels like you have your own house in a neighborhood, but has the Amenities of a "complex" (pool, tennis, basketball, clubhouse) TOWNHOUSE 2 BR/2.5 BA -- 2 floors: 2BRs are upstairs with their own baths (and lots of closet space; master has walk-in) -- Both BRs have their own balcony -- Downstairs is wide-open floor plan (kitchen-dining-living areas all open), dark cherry hardwoods, working fireplace, two sliding glass doors onto deck -- Half bath downstairs -- Brand new Washer/Dryer -- AWESOME DECK . . . my favorite part (also if you fill the bird/hummingbird feeders, you'll have aviary company all day) -- Great location in Finley, because the deck faces towards trees/woods and other houses (not towards a parking lot) -- 2 Reserved parking spaces -- Comparing Finley Forest Homes (Info I wish I had three years ago): When I looked for a place to live before starting law school, I realized that I definitely wanted to be in Finley given its privacy and proximity to UNC, buses, I-40, and Meadowmont. Here's some info that would have been helpful in understanding Finley . . . All units are privately owned, so the quality of each unit (furnishings, location, landlord) can vary significantly. There are original units and additional units: original units have decks; additional units have patios which are typically covered by the structure itself (regardless, they all have privacy fences). Homes with decks are either 2B/2B or 2B/2.5BA: the 2/2 are significantly smaller, single level units and you either live above or below someone, your decks are smaller, adjacent (share a fence), and less private; the 2/2.5 ones are two levels (bedrooms upstairs, living space downstairs), are bigger, and have a larger deck that is entirely private. The porch units are either 2BR or 3BR, but otherwise similar to each other - both have: two floors, and their porches seem to be less inviting for hanging out/entertaining (small and cramped), however, they are covered, which means you could sit out there in the rain (not really possible on the deck homes). Hope that offers some help, I remember being really confused as to why some places looked awesome, others looked run down, and the layouts were so different. Fortunately, I was able to visit almost a dozen before deciding . . . clearly, I liked the 2/2.5 deck option. In the end, my friends all loved my place, which became the space to gather, have dinner, etc. Whoever grabs it will feel lucky.
