If you are looking for an incredible one of a kind mountain home, you have found it! This exquisite custom-built home on approximately 15 acres (woods/2 creek) has a 180 degree "winter" view of the mountains with unbelievable sunrises and is only a 35 minute drive to downtown Greenville, 10 minute drive to Hendersonville, and 45 minute drive to Brevard. It has approximately 2683 SF and was built by the sellers in 1998. It features 3 BR 3 BA, with master BR on main level, office/study, formal DR, den, upstairs reading area, laundry area with sink and shelving, screen porch, two covered porches, and patio. The exterior wood is stained western cedar - highly rot and insect resistant and was re-stained 3 years ago. The home's interior is composed of wooden materials personally gathered by seller over many years from old homes, barns, sawmills in Greenville, Spartanburg, Pickens and York counties. The wall treatments in each room, including baths, consist of this reclaimed wood - predominately southern pine, with some chestnut - each reclaimed board - graded/cleaned and its specific location planned by seller. Cabinets throughout this lovely home, including black walnut kitchen cabinets, were handmade by a local craftsman . Kitchen also features granite countertops and a gas FP. There are built-in bookcases in office/study, and upstairs loft. An 1800's log cabin in Greenville Co. was dismantled, moved to property, reconstructed for outside storage building, and pine beams used in office/study. All beams throughout the home are decorative in function (not structural) - DR (pine from log cabin), office/study (pine from log cabin), and kitchen (heart of pine). The posts, rails, and steps of stairway are reclaimed materials from 1850's abandoned homes in northern Greenville County. All handmade solid wood interior doors came from mid-19th century homes in York, Spartanburg, and Greenville counties. Hardwoods downstairs are tongue and groove heart pine milled from large beams removed from turn of century building in Georgia and attached to sub-flooring with counter-sunk screws covered with black walnut pegs. Base board molding is from a 1903 home in downtown TR. There are tongue and groove oak hardwoods upstairs. Pine beaded board from 1920 home in Pickens was used for wainscoting in DR. Wooden walls used in den came from several barns and outbuildings in TR. Raised hearth, floor to ceiling, wood burning FP was made by local stone mason using native mountain stone. Mantle is hand-hewn oak beam from mid-1800's log home. Matching hand hewn floor to ceiling oak beams from same log home outline FP. Master bath has heart pine and chestnut wall boards. The geometric floor design in downstairs powder room was stenciled by a northern Greenville Co. artist and wallboards are southern pine bead board. AND endless storage! Wonderful landscaping complements the home and surrounding hardwood setting with stacked stone walls that terrace the yard containing numerous native wild flowers. There is a rainwater collection system, stored underground in two 500 gallon vessels used to water flowers. There is a large gas generator in case of power outage. There is also a dog kennel measuring 16 x 16. There is a leased security system. Sellers are leaving this amazing home to move to another state to be closer to family. If square footage is important to buyer, buyer must verify.
