Neighborhood Description This rural hamlet of South Otselic, NY was designated a National Historic District in 1983. The community is home to one of the state's 12 fish hatcheries and Gladding Braided Products (formerly the internationally known Gladding Fishing Line Co.). South Otselic is Located in the scenic Otselic River Valley and within 1 hour's driving time to Syracuse, Binghamton, Ithaca and Utica, NY. There is a centralized school (K-12th grade) in the hamlet, and a small bank across the street. The community has two churches, a volunteer fire department-ambulance/rescue squad, a gas/service station, a Grange chapter, a small Town park, the Town Hall, and other small, home-based businesses. There is an annual Memorial Day parade, and the annual Fishing & Heritage Day event, both in May.
