It's a 10 acre remote/OFF ROAD property located in Chase 2. Please contact us before an agent and read all before inquiring. Spectacular views of the Alaska Range, including Denali , Foraker and Hunter are offered here, atop hills near Devore lake, which is where the 3 buildings, plus 2 outhouses are situated. P.S. There is a porta potty in the cabin. This property is surrounded by many acres of state land for firewood cutting.
The cabin is a beautiful 22x26' two story, custom built scribe built log home. Many spruce burls were used in its construction including a spiral staircase, king bed and tables as seen in the pictures. A 12' foundation is on the back of the cabin for expanding the kitchen and adding a bathroom. We still live in Talkeetna, but haven't lived at the cabin for a few years, however Grog regularly checks on it.
The outside picture of the guesthouse and sauna were taken from the cabin deck. The 16x20' guesthouse/workshop has a hot tub built into the deck. In winter, we soaked in the tub and watched the Northern lights dance over Denali...Amazing! Adjacent to this is an 8x12' cedar lined sauna withe cedar benches and a tub set up for gravity fed showers. On Grogs spring visit, he found a beam under the sauna had broken and it tilted forward on a 40 degree angle. This can be solved by 2-3 strong men with some ingenuity. Meantime, a gravity fed shower can be set up in the guesthouse.
Sources of water are collecting precipitation year round be it rain or snow, getting from a spring fed creek 1/8 mile from the cabin, or water could be pumped up 200' from the Devore lake shore. Power is a 12 volt system consisting of solar panels, generators and batteries.
The property is located near the S.E. corner of Devore lake in Chase 2, 5 miles north of Talkeetna and is accessed from downtown Talkeetnas railroad trailhead both summer and winter. It is 5 miles in winter over frozen swamps by snowmobile, and it is 12 miles in summer on trails by 4-wheeler. Grog can take you to see the place, however you need transport no wider than 46" to fit on the railroad bridge.
There are no neighbors is sight or within a 1/2 mile, which gives you total privacy from the world. For the outdoorsman/woman, this spot is good for hunting, hiking, berry picking, bird watching and possibly fishing, biking and skiing. For writers and artists it provides the perfect unincumbered environment needed for such endeavors. The peace and quiet in this beautiful setting soothes the soul.
You may contact us via grogster55@gmail.com or call the builder/owner Robert Petersen, aka "Grog" or Elaine at (907)733-1598. If you choose the latter which we prefer, and on the rare times we're not home, please leave a message as we don't have texting, caller ID or owner financing capabilities. Grog is not computer savvy and I'm visually impaired. Serious inquiries only please. Respectfully and thankyou.
